Health & Safety Officer

Location: DSV Solutions Limited, Naas, Co Kildare
Working Hours: 9.00 - 17.30 (Flexible)

Main purpose of Job:

To proactively manage Health & safety and welfare of the company site ensuring statutory compliance and best safe working practices

Key Tasks

• Proactively champion the Health & Safety function and safe working practices across the whole company
• Monitor relevant legislation updates, ensuring necessary changes are applied in a timely manner
• Regularly review and update Company Risk Assessments, Safe Operating Procedures and Safety Statement and communicating updates company wide
• Deliver new employee Safety Inductions
• Arranging completion of all relevant site-specific Health & Safety training including refresher training
• Identify new and on-going safety related training requirements ensuring all mandatory training is reviewed and delivered on time
• Conduct regular safety audits to ensure statutory compliance and Company standards are maintained
• Investigate, record and report on accidents, incidents or near misses promptly, ensuring any corrective actions are addressed promptly
• Provide relevant accident information for insurance purposes
• Maintain and report on accident, incident and near miss statistics highlighting any data trends
• Hold regular safety committee meetings, ensuring action points are addressed and closed out in a timely manner
• Conduct daily safety walks and team briefs, ensuring standards are maintained and any remedial actions are addressed promptly
• Organise and manage contractors carrying out maintenance and repairs on company property and equipment
• To undertake any other duties or activities as required by the company

Work experience:

• 3-4 years’ experience in Health, Safety Officer Role

Skills required:

• Relevant Health & Safety Qualification
• Qualified Manual Handling Instructor
• Qualified Mechanical Handling Instructor
• Highly Organised and Self Motivated
• Be proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
• Excellent Communication and Interpersonal skills, at all levels within the Company.
